I’m writing this on the eve of a fantastic achievement by the Pastures company of Archers junior team, who have won the junior league this season! We have had an extremely good turnout this year at almost all league shoots, which has provided some stiff competition for places and as junior representative, I’d like to say a big thank-you to anyone who participated in the shoots! Those people were: Alex Annable, Jason Torr, Tom Emery, Rachael Emery, Kathryn Shooter, Rory McFarland, Emma Searle, and myself (Jack Emery). A big well done to Emma who only started archery a couple of months ago, but came to the final league shoot and fired herself into the team with a great score of 609. Congratulations Emma on the success of your first shoot!!
The final league shoot was the decider as to who would win the league as we were against DAC, who were hot on our heels and a win for them would have won them the league. We had to win to secure the league title, so it was vital everybody performed! There was also some pride at stake, and I know that I for one desperately wanted to beat a certain Craig Buxton, with whom I have a friendly rivalry! Seven juniors turned up at LNER’s ground to shoot for us, which gave very good competition for places, and they were: Alex, Kathryn, Rory, Tom, Rachael, Emma, and myself. Expectations were high, as we were unbeaten coming into the shoot, and on the day, nobody disappointed, and we stormed to victory! Everybody performed well, had a good time and a good laugh (remember the SOUP incident guys?), and the final team was: Myself, with 756 points, Alex, with 616 point, and Emma, with a great debut score of 609, so another big well done to you Emma!! Not forgetting the rest of the team of course, as you guys have done really well and have represented Pastures extremely impressively throughout the year, so thank-you for your participation! As for the other disciplines, we won the handicap with Rachael, Kathryn, and myself (Somehow?!) all making the team! Kathryn, you finished 2nd in the handicap team so well done and keep up the good shooting! We also won the longbow, so a good day all round.
I would also like to recognise the contribution of the junior’s parents throughout the season and thank them for their support. Without your support we may not have been so successful, and we appreciate all you have done, so thank you for all you have done!
I have been informed by the DAC junior team that they intend to beat us next year as they have another archer, Sarah Smith joining their ranks from Anchor, which will strengthen their team, but I know you guys won’t let me down and we will fight to regain our title next year!! Congratulations again to everyone who has shot in the league and helped us succeed, as it is a massive achievement, and it couldn’t have been done without each and every one of you! I hope to be writing the same kind of thing I have written here next year, so keep practising and I’m sure I will be!!!
