Pastures Archers did well again at the National Indoors tournaments held at Telford last week-end.

Saturday in the Junior National Indoors Championships, Ross Watson was about half way up the U-18 recurve section with a very creditable score - he achieved more than the juniors who were wearing England colours on the day, and was only beaten by one other EMAS archer.  Thomas Taylor came 2nd in the U-18 compound section - the winner was the top N.Ireland junior.  Tom was the England reserve in the home Nations competition.

On Sunday it was the Senior Indoors Championship.  Cat Summerfield made it through to the Head to Head section in the ladies' Recurve.  Tom also managed to get through to the H2H stage (27th out of a section of 83 gents compound).  The star of the day, however, was Simon Scott - shooting for Pastures - who made it through the H2H stages and came 3rd, beating Duncan Busby for the bronze medal.

All in all, a very creditable week-end for the club!

Tony Taylor.

Well the results are in and it's been a good season for Pastures. in the summer league this year two clubs divided the five disciplines between them. Pastures Company of Archers won the Longbow, Junior and Handicap events with Derwent Bowmen winning the recurve and compound. Thank you to all of the club members that found time to attend the fixtures and supporting the club as without archery clubs few would aspire or attain the heady heights of the GB squad! So keep that support going and thank you to everyone for attending the shoots - Well done - Especially our juniors (the last time the juniors won the league was in 2005).

Congratulations to all those who shot at the County Champs on Sunday, especially the juniors. So congrats to Tom Taylor, Ross Watson, Laura Kendrick, Rachael Emery, Ben Cousins, who all got medals and in most cases Rose Awards too. So with all the seniors medals too we showed them who Pastures Company of Archers is.  WELL DONE EVERYONE.

Well there goes another LNER 50/50 and congratulations go to Geoff Mabbot who won the gents longbow, Sue Margett, ladies longbow with Julie Cousins in second place. Ross Watson with an excellent score of 785 as junior boy recurve - 50/50 distance... (that would have placed him only one point behind the winner of the gents recurve!). Also well done to Ben Cousins - on form again in 2nd place - junior boy recurve and Rachael Emery who was first junior longbow girl with an excellent score of 267. As usual it was a good event despite the showers and the rest of us need to practice a bit more!

We would also like to wish Pete and Sue Margett a very happy wedding anniversary who have been together for donkey's years (happier for Sue as she won a trophy but Pete stayed smiling as they also got a very large cake from LNER!)

Well another DCAA clout over and a big well done to Paul Garner, who not only was the first to pin the flag at 180 yards but also became the gents 2010 County Clout champion (gaining a black tassel award). Well done. Geoff Mabbott came second in the gents longbow. Other tassel awards went to Ben Cousins (white tassel), who came second in the boys recurve at 80yards, David Cousins (white tassel), gents recurve and Mike Emery (white tassel) shooting gents barebow (thankfully no other Derbyshire gents barebow archers turned up, so he won that one!!).

What has the weather done for us so far? Tony Taylor charts the meteoric rise of Tom Taylor - our favourite junior compound hero as he negotiates the highs and lows of being a GB squadee (if that's the word - if not it sounds OK so I'll keeep it in!). just click to download the full article - Well done Tom.

Please support all league shoots if you can, we need two full teams for the recurve section, so everyone has a chance to perform and be part of the team (as long as your score is high enough!)
