INDOOR LEAGUE - DECEMBER
by Lee Chlechowicz

In December we had the pleasure of shooting for two Leagues. The indoor postal league shoot and the outdoor Frostbite postal league shoot.

Strangely the indoor shoot was much better attended than the outdoor Frostbite. Nothing to do with the comparative temperatures I’m sure.

The Frostbite was attended by 14 Archers, 3 of whom were Longbow archers the rest being Recurve. We all noticed a slight nip in the air, especially Mick, who thought that shooting in a padded body warmer was a good idea ( he was wrong!). We also took the time to admire Cats’ buff, something that Jack hadn’t seen before!! What a sheltered life he must have led. There were also a few red rimmed eyes from those who had stayed up late on Saturday night to watch the Ricky Hatton fight.

As the shoot drew to it’s chilly conclusion it was Tony Dolby who managed to finish top with a score of 323. Following Tony were Paul H, Lee , Jack and Cat. Well done to all of them for making the Team. The other brave archers who turned up were placed as follows :- Paul M, Melvyn, Pete S, Alan, Mick and Sue S. I am certain that if Mick had removed his body warmer things would have gone better. And Melvyn, think of that first dozen…..oops!.

In the Longbow section Pete M took the honours with a 191. This was followed by Sue M and then Joe. A big well done for all those who turned up to shoot in the cold, the thought of a drink in the club afterwards kept us all going during the last half dozen.

At the indoor Portsmouth the attendance was much greater. 25 Archers attended, 3 compounds, 2 Longbows and the rest Recurves.

The A team included Tony D, Mike, Melvyn, Lee and Cat. Well done to Cat for making the A team.

The B team included Paul H, Richard G, Roy, Andy and Pete S. Once again the leading B team score was only a handful of points from the A team and Paul M finished outside of the B team by only 2 points! This means excellent competition for all of us just to try and make the team.

The Compound team included Tom and Tony Taylor. Tony must try harder. Ken missing out this time on the Compound team.

Once again the top Longbow archer was Pete with Sue coming second.

I am sure we are all looking forward to the next league shoots. Wrap up warm for the frostbite and please attend, it may be a little cold but with just 3 dozen arrows being shot it doesn’t take very long. Check out the Calendar on the web site for the date of the next shoot.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

P.S. Have you all remembered to ask Santa for all that Archery equipment you so desperately need?
